New Nick Cave album and film announced

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds have announced that their sixteenth studio album, Skeleton Tree, will be released globally on vinyl, CD and digitally on 9th September 2016. Their previous album was 2013’s acclaimed Push The Sky Away.

The first opportunity anyone will have to hear any of the songs from the album will be to watch the film, One More Time With Feeling. Directed by Andrew Dominik (Chopper, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Killing Them Softly), the film will screen in cinemas across the world for one night only on 8th September 2016.

Cave’s website announced that “Originally a performance based concept, One More Time With Feeling evolved into something much more significant as Dominik delved into the tragic backdrop of the writing and recording of the album. … Interwoven throughout the Bad Seeds’ filmed performance of the new album are interviews and footage shot by Dominik, accompanied by Cave’s intermittent narration and improvised rumination.”

Tragically on 14th July 2015, Nick Cave and model Susie Bick’s son Arthur, twin brother to Earl, suffered a fatal injury after falling from a cliff in Brighton, UK. The fifteen-year-old was taken to the Royal Sussex County hospital but died that evening. Arthur’s family released a statement at the time: “…He was a bright, shiny, funny, complex boy and we loved him deeply.”
