Stevie Nicks and The Pretenders 2016: 24 Karat Gold Tour
On October 25, 2016 Stevie Nicks and The Pretenders began the 24 Karat Gold tour in Phoenix, Arizona. This tour promised to bring music to the masses that had not been played live or songs that had only been played one time from Miss Nicks. Halfway through this tour that promise has been kept. Stevie has been pulling out gems from her 2014 release “24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault”, her eighth studio solo album as well as crowd favorites.
Teaming up with legendary punk rocker Chrissie Hynde seemed to be an odd pairing at first but this is not a solo Chrissie Hynde tour, this is THE Pretenders.
The original band has lost members along the way, including 2 of the original members Pete Farndon and James Honeyman-Scott, who had both passed away after their second full length album was released in 1982.

The Pretenders current line-up includes Chrissie Hynde, James Walborne, Nick Wilkinson and Eric Heywood; who are held together by “the world’s greatest drummer” ( as Chrissie Hynde calls him every night when introducing him to the crowd), Martin Chambers, the original back-bone of this band. This band can compliment any pairing thrown their way, including Stevie Nicks.

The Pretenders have a new album out “Alone” which was originally intended to be a follow-up to Chrissie Hynde’s solo album “Stockholm”. Now that’s its being played live, this album is morphing into the full Pretenders sound, despite the fact no members from the band other than Chrissie Hynde recorded on it. On “Alone” Chrissie recruited seasoned session players as well as working with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, (who produced this album). This is their first album since 2008’s “Break Up the Concrete”.
